The Democratic Party, Kim Eui-gyeom Reported to Ethics Committee... "Democratic Party Enters the Canyon of Lies"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The ruling party has filed a complaint with the National Assembly Ethics Special Committee against Kim Eui-gyeom, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, who alleged that President Yoon Seok-yeol and Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon had a late-night drinking party with lawyers from Kim & Chang.
Assembly members Yoo Sang-beom and Kim Hyeong-dong, and the floor spokesperson Kim Mi-ae of the People Power Party, all members of the National Assembly Judiciary Committee, submitted a disciplinary proposal against Kim to the National Assembly Secretariat in the morning.
Assemblyman Yoo stated, "Kim's remarks about the bar are completely baseless," and added, "Even within the Democratic Party, there were advices to apologize for those remarks, but it seems that Kim did not apologize, possibly due to the DNA of party leader Lee Jae-myung."
He continued, "The entire Democratic Party conducting a fact-finding task force (TF) on this matter is, as someone said, 'the whole Democratic Party entering a canyon of lies,'" and said, "We can no longer overlook Kim's behavior of not apologizing at all, which is why we have requested disciplinary action from the Ethics Committee."

The disciplinary proposal was primarily initiated by Jeong Jeom-sik, the ruling party's floor whip on the Judiciary Committee, with a total of 20 members including the deputy floor leaders signing it. The grounds for discipline cited violations of Article 25 of the National Assembly Act regarding the duty to maintain the dignity of members, and violations of Article 146 prohibiting insulting remarks, among others.
