Wando-gun Signs 7 Billion KRW Investment Agreement for 'Marine Microalgae Production Facility Construction'

[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyungpil] On the 26th, Jeollanam-do Wando-gun signed an investment agreement worth 7 billion KRW with Solomon Bio (CEO Lee Donghan) at the ‘Jeollanam-do Bio Company Investment Attraction Briefing’ held at the Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul.

The county is focusing on fostering the marine bioindustry specialized in seaweed and has established an industrial belt linked to marine healing, which led to the success of this investment attraction.

Solomon Bio plans to invest 7 billion KRW to build a ‘marine microalgae cultivation and functional material production facility’ in the Sinji-myeon area of Wando-gun.

Once the facility is established, it will mainly produce a functional material called ‘Chlorophyll a’ using microalgae. ‘Chlorophyll a’ is effective in enhancing immunity, anticancer effects, and improving blood circulation.

It is also expected to contribute to the local economy by creating 20 jobs and providing tourist experience activities utilizing the related facilities.

Shin Woochul, the governor of Wando-gun, said, “We will actively cooperate with Solomon Bio’s investment project to revitalize the marine bioindustry,” and added, “We will do our best to complete the marine bio complex centered on Sinji-myeon and to create jobs and revitalize the local economy by attracting bio companies.”

Meanwhile, the investment attraction briefing held this time was organized to promote the strengths such as the bioindustry environment based on Jeollanam-do’s abundant natural biological resources and to activate investment in excellent venture and startup companies.

The signing ceremony was attended by Jeollanam-do, five cities and counties (Naju, Hwasun, Gokseong, Jangseong, Wando), and 13 bio companies, with the total investment scale of the 13 companies signing agreements amounting to 83 billion KRW.
