SD Life Science Subsidiary SD Platform Forms Strategic Partnership with BK Dongyoung Tech for Battery Business
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] SD Bioscience, a KOSDAQ-listed company specializing in the distribution and manufacturing of health foods and the SNP cosmetics brand (CEO Park Seolwoong), announced on the 27th that its subsidiary SD Platform has formed a strategic partnership with BK Dongyoung Tech regarding battery development, manufacturing, and global distribution.
The signing ceremony was attended by SD Platform CEO Park Seolwoong and BK Dongyoung Tech CEO Lee Gihong, where they exchanged opinions on battery development, manufacturing, and measures to activate overseas distribution.
Founded in 2010, BK Dongyoung Tech is a technology-based company specializing in R&D and production of solid-state batteries (Solid Metal Battery). Last year, it won the Grand Prize in the Energy category at the Jang Youngsil International Science and Culture Awards. The company's technology features capacitors and power-free AI-type solar batteries, with the advantage that solid-state batteries can be charged even when lithium-ion batteries cannot, allowing 365-day usage regardless of weather conditions.
A BK Dongyoung Tech representative explained, "Our company is developing solid-state batteries that do not cause incidents like the recent Kakao fire," adding, "Solid-state batteries improve on the drawbacks of industrial special batteries (UC) that allow high-speed charging and discharging by enhancing safety, maximizing charge-discharge efficiency, increasing user convenience, and securing eco-friendliness through recyclability."
Both companies agreed to cooperate in the solar streetlight business, motorbike solid-state battery business, and smart device battery business. They plan to closely collaborate on building distribution networks and establishing manufacturing facilities related to overseas business expansion in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia and Vietnam.
An SD Bioscience representative stated, "We expect synergy from the battery packaging technology development partnership utilizing the packaging technology of our other subsidiary, Anycos," and added, "We anticipate that this business partnership will lead to sales performance through Anycos's existing large-scale overseas contracts and comprehensive global marketing and sales cooperation."
