Boryeong Selects First 6 'CIS Challenge' Award-Winning Teams... Discovering Space Healthcare Startups
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] Boryung announced on the 27th that it has selected six winning teams of the 'CIS (Care In Space) Challenge,' held for the first time this year to foster space healthcare companies.
The 'CIS Challenge' is a program designed to discover and nurture startups with various goals in medical devices, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, and more, aiming to pioneer the uncharted field of space healthcare. Hosted by Boryung, the program partners with Axiom Space, the first private space station development company, and Starburst, a specialized accelerator for aerospace startups.
Earlier this year, Boryung launched the CIS project to seek solutions for various health issues that may arise from humans engaging in long-term activities in microgravity space environments. On August 4th (local time), a Pitch Day was held in Los Angeles, USA, where a panel of experts from various fields selected the final winning teams.
The selected teams are Advanced TeleSensors, Deep Space Biology, Myelin-H, Nano PharmaSolutions, ViBo Health, and Xtory.
Advanced TeleSensors is developing a non-invasive cardiac monitor for remote patient monitoring. Deep Space Biology is developing a research platform that predicts and detects biometric signals that may occur during long-term space activities based on artificial intelligence (AI) and big data. Myelin-H is building a remote neurological disease monitoring and diagnostic system using FDA-approved neural sensors and AI-based analysis software.
Nano PharmaSolutions aims to increase the bioavailability of insoluble drugs and diversify drug administration methods by enhancing drug solubility through physical vapor deposition (PVD). ViBo Health is developing a smart health tracker that quantifies individual metabolic information using multi-scanners to design personalized health predictions. Xtory is creating a platform that provides psychological comfort and monitors mental health in space, where individuals may feel psychologically constrained and stressed, through extended reality (XR) and interactive devices.
Each selected team will receive an investment of $100,000 and the opportunity to participate in an accelerating program supported by various companies and institutions involved in the CIS project, helping to realize their ideas.
