Three Suwon, Hwaseong, and Paju Metropolitan Bus Routes Switch to Semi-Public Operation System... Concentrated Dispatch During Commute Hours
The Metropolitan Transport Commission of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) announced on the 27th that it will start operating three semi-public metropolitan express bus (M-Bus) routes running from Suwon and Hwaseong in Gyeonggi Province from November 1, and from Paju City to Seoul from November 15.
The routes starting operation this time are those transitioning from a private operation system, where private entities decide on operation, to a semi-public system where the government takes full responsibility for the overall operation system.
By expanding regular route operations, introducing double-decker electric buses and demand-responsive charter buses, and concentrating 91 trips during peak commuting hours (37 trips in Suwon, 31 in Hwaseong, and 23 in Paju), congestion during boarding is expected to be alleviated, improving public transportation conditions for commuting to and from Seoul.
The Suwon M5121 route is a metropolitan express bus line operating from Samsung Electronics to Seoul Station Transfer Center, running 70 times a day (37 trips during peak hours) on weekdays from 05:10 to 22:40 (Seoul time 06:10 to 23:40) at intervals of 8 to 20 minutes.
The main stops on the outbound and inbound routes include seven locations in Suwon such as Samsung Electronics, Korea 2nd Apartment, and Gwanggyo Central Station Transfer Center, and four locations in Seoul including Seoul Paik Hospital, Seoul City Hall, and Seoul Station.
The Hwaseong M4108 route is a metropolitan express bus line operating from Naroo Village to Seoul Station Transfer Center, running 81 times a day (31 trips during peak hours) on weekdays from 05:00 to 22:50 (Seoul time 06:00 to 24:00) at intervals of 5 to 35 minutes.
The main stops on the outbound and inbound routes include six locations in Hwaseong such as Naroo Village, Solbit Village, Daeun Village, Metapolis, and Hanbit Village, and four locations in Seoul including Seoul Paik Hospital, Seoul City Hall, and Seoul Station.
The Paju M7111 route is a metropolitan express bus line operating from Sannae Village Complexes 6 and 8 to Sungnyemun, running 63 times a day (23 trips during peak hours) on weekdays from 05:30 to 23:50 (Seoul time 06:30 to 01:00) at intervals of 7 to 35 minutes.
The main stops on the outbound and inbound routes include six locations in Paju such as Sannae Village Complexes 6 and 8, Jisan Middle School, Haesol Village Complexes 6 and 7, and Hanbit Village Complex 1, and five locations in Seoul including Yonsei University, Ewha Womans University Rear Gate, Gwanghwamun Building, and Sungnyemun.
After transitioning to the semi-public system, the Metropolitan Transport Commission will regularly monitor usage status and adjust dispatch intervals and increase or add trips according to times of high and low demand, ensuring thorough post-management to minimize traffic inconveniences during peak commuting hours when metropolitan transportation demand is concentrated.
