The selected “Gyeongbuk Digital Innovation Agricultural Town Development Project” will invest a total project cost of 2.15 billion KRW from next year until 2025 in the Wunggok-ri area of Mueul-myeon (approximately 30 hectares). It will support rice milling facilities capable of processing hulled rice and specialty rice, as well as facilities and equipment necessary for establishing food crop bases, which is expected to greatly contribute to increasing farm household income through added value enhancement and job creation for village residents.
The “Gyeongbuk Digital Innovation Agricultural Town Contest Project” is a project to create a new concept of rural village composed of one agricultural cooperative corporation or agricultural company corporation, where general farming solves technology and manpower issues through joint farming and generates stable profits.
Wunggok-ri village in Mueul-myeon currently has 45 farm households engaged in agriculture, but it is an extremely aged village where 71.3% of the farm households are aged 60 or older. Therefore, due to continuous aging and accelerated decrease in the number of farm households, a change to a joint farming system was urgently needed, and 75.6% of the village farm households actively agreed to promote the agricultural cooperative corporation, leading to the application for this contest project.
