Ko Si-hyeon, a graduate of Yeosu Information Science High School, earned the honor of winning the gold medal in the web technology category at the '2022 International Skills Olympics Special Competition' held from October 9 to 18.
Mayor Jeong said, "Ko Si-hyeon's gold medal achievement is a proud event that elevates the honor of his alma mater, Information Science High School, as well as our city of Yeosu," adding, "I hope he becomes a revolutionary leading future technology worldwide. The city will also spare no support to nurture a second and third Ko Si-hyeon in the local community."
Ko Si-hyeon, who entered the Industrial Design Department (now AI Design Department) at Yeosu Information Science High School in 2017, stood out by winning gold medals at the 2018 and 2019 Local Skills Competitions, an Excellence Award at the 2018 National Skills Competition, and a silver medal at the 2019 National Skills Competition.
He joined Samsung Electronics' Skills Olympics division immediately after graduating in 2020 and achieved the great success of winning a gold medal at this international competition.
Meanwhile, Yeosu City is supporting 1.177 billion KRW for 15 projects, including major advanced clubs operation, employment support officers, and qualification exam fee support, targeting five specialized high schools including Information Science High School this year.
