Annual Filial Piety Incentive Payment Available for 3rd Generation Filial Families
Hoping to Encourage Families Practicing Filial Piety and Promote Respect for the Elderly Values
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Kim Youngsoon, a member of the Gwangju Buk-gu Council (Duam 1, 2, 3-dong, Pungyang-dong, Munhwa-dong, Seokgok-dong), announced that the "Ordinance on Encouragement and Support of Filial Piety in Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City" was approved at the 4th plenary session of the 281st extraordinary meeting on the 26th.
The ordinance aims to encourage filial piety, a beautiful traditional cultural heritage, and support filial acts to address the problems of an aging society and promote respect for the elderly and filial duty.
The main contents include ▲ encouragement of filial piety education ▲ designation of Filial Piety Month ▲ commendation of outstanding filial piety performers ▲ support for the care of parents, etc. ▲ support for filial piety encouragement funds.
The filial piety encouragement fund will be paid once a year up to 200,000 KRW to three-generation filial piety families who have continuously resided in Buk-gu for more than three years as of the application date and are supporting direct ascendants aged 85 or older. It is scheduled to be implemented next year after consultations with the Health and Welfare Department and the establishment of social security systems.
Councilor Kim Youngsoon said, "I proposed the ordinance to encourage filial piety, a beautiful traditional cultural heritage, to solve social problems such as aging and to promote the development of filial piety culture in the local community through the establishment of filial culture," adding, "I hope this will be an opportunity to encourage families practicing filial piety and to foster the spirit of respect for the elderly and filial duty in our society."
