[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that from the 23rd of last month to the 11th of next month, 52 people including youth national fencing team athletes, coaches, instructors, and medical trainers will conduct training at the Gangjin-gun 2nd Indoor Gymnasium for 20 days.
The athletes will undergo various training such as skill acquisition, physical conditioning, and fencing theory classes, nurturing their dreams of becoming future national representatives.
From the 20th of next month to December 1st, training for the adult national fencing team is scheduled, and it is expected that general fencing teams will also participate in the training, which is anticipated to invigorate the local economy.
This training was at risk of being canceled due to a shortage of accommodations, but it was realized through the cooperation of several related parties including Yoon Young-cheol, president of the Jeonnam Fencing Association, and the active efforts of the Gangjin-gun Sports Industry Complex.
During the training period, the county provides free use of the gymnasium and transportation vehicles to support the athletes so they can train without inconvenience.
Gangjin-gun Governor Kang Jin-won stated, “Not only fencing but also various other sports training camps and national competitions will be actively attracted to promote sports marketing aimed at doubling the income of the county residents.”
Meanwhile, Gangjin-gun has submitted an application to the Korea Fencing Federation to host a nationwide fencing competition in 2023 and plans to actively pursue hosting until the final confirmation.
