Myongji Hospital Opens First 'Arrhythmia Center' in Northern Gyeonggi Region
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwanju] Myongji Hospital announced on the 26th that it has opened the first 'Arrhythmia Center' in northern Gyeonggi Province and has begun specialized diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmia.
Arrhythmia refers to symptoms such as 'bradycardia,' where the heart beats slower than the normal adult heart rate, 'tachycardia,' where it beats faster, and irregular 'atrial fibrillation.' Recently, due to population aging, the number of patients with arrhythmia, including atrial fibrillation, is on the rise.
The Myongji Hospital Arrhythmia Center has established an organic cooperative network including arrhythmia-specialized cardiology medical staff such as Center Director Hwang Eui-seok and Professor Lee Jae-hyuk, as well as various specialized medical teams like the Cardiac Surgery Center, Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, and Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine Department.
In addition, the center has a comprehensive management system that systematically manages the entire cycle from drug treatment to procedures, rehabilitation, and follow-up care by comprehensively assessing the patient's age, underlying diseases, and presence of symptoms.
Center Director Hwang Eui-seok explained, "Atrial fibrillation and arrhythmia, which are major causes of stroke, dementia, acute cerebral infarction, and sudden death, require prompt and accurate diagnosis and treatment," adding, "We have opened an independent Arrhythmia Center focused on arrhythmia diseases to provide more specialized and high-quality treatment."
