Childcare service is a service where caregivers visit homes experiencing childcare gaps to take care of children under the age of 12.
The 227 childcare service providers nationwide perform tasks such as service application and usage guidance, connecting users with caregivers, managing safety accidents, recruiting and hiring caregivers, and supporting training and education.
The Ministry divided service providers into three groups: urban, suburban, and rural, and evaluated overall tasks including satisfaction, service provision, caregiver management, and budget execution.
The top institution overall, the Daegu Dalseo-gu service provider, scored high in most areas and received particularly good evaluations in satisfaction. Many respondents said it helped alleviate childcare burdens and maintain careers.
The number one urban area institution, the Incheon Bupyeong-gu service provider, stood out for the capabilities of its staff and the enthusiasm of its caregivers. The top suburban institution, the Chungnam Nonsan-si service provider, made special efforts to manage caregiver supply and enhance expertise during the COVID-19 situation, where group education and face-to-face services were restricted. The top rural institution, the Gyeongbuk Cheongdo-gun service provider, saw a significant increase in new user families and high job satisfaction among its caregivers.
The Minister of Gender Equality and Family plans to award the Minister’s Prize to outstanding institutions at the 'Childcare Service Communication Day' (tentative name) event to be held on November 29. The plan is to widely share best practices from this evaluation and improve shortcomings to enhance service quality.
From next year, the Ministry plans to operate an artificial intelligence (AI) matching system and respond to diverse childcare service demands. Additionally, it will widely share best practices from this evaluation and improve deficient areas to raise service quality.
