Asiana Airlines Resumes Flights to Hangzhou and Shenzhen, China After 2 Years and 7 Months
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Asiana Airlines announced on the 26th that it will begin expanding its routes to China in earnest, starting with the resumption of flights to Hangzhou.
Asiana Airlines will resume flights to Hangzhou once a week starting from the 2nd of next month, and to Shenzhen once a week from the 29th of this month. The Changchun route, which previously operated once a week, will increase to twice a week starting from the 27th. The Hangzhou and Shenzhen routes are being resumed after a suspension of 2 years and 7 months since March 2020.
The Hangzhou route departs from Incheon at 9:45 AM and arrives at 11:00 AM. The return flight departs Hangzhou at 1:55 PM and arrives in Incheon at 5:05 PM, operated with an A330 aircraft (298 seats). The Shenzhen route departs Incheon at 12:25 PM and arrives at 3:30 PM. The return flight departs Shenzhen at 5:30 PM and arrives in Incheon at 9:45 PM, operated with an A321NEO aircraft (180 seats).
The Changchun route departs Incheon at 8:45 AM and arrives at 9:55 AM. The return flight departs Changchun at 11:55 AM and arrives in Incheon at 3:00 PM. On Tuesdays, a B747 aircraft (398 seats) is deployed. On Thursdays, the flight operates with an A330 (298 seats).
Currently, Asiana Airlines operates four routes to China: Beijing, Nanjing, Changchun, and Harbin. With this resumption, the number of routes has increased to six. In addition to resuming flights to Hangzhou and Shenzhen, the airline plans to continue cooperating with Chinese authorities to add more routes.
An Asiana Airlines official said, “Asiana Airlines has played a significant role in exchanges between the two countries since starting flights to Beijing, China in 1994,” and added, “We will do our best to restore our China routes starting with these additional flights.”

Meanwhile, before China closed its skies due to COVID-19, Asiana Airlines operated 28 routes to China alone, with 220 flights per week.
