Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun Promotes Comprehensive World Expo Bid... Negotiations at 5th Korea-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] On the 26th at 6:30 PM, Busan City will hold a promotional event for the bid to host the 2030 Busan World Expo at the Paradise Hotel in Haeundae, targeting the foreign ministers of 12 Pacific island countries who have come to Korea to attend the 5th Korea-Pacific Island Countries Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
The Foreign Ministers' Meeting will be held at 9:30 AM the same day at the Busan Signiel Hotel, hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Under the theme "Vision for the Resilient Blue Pacific," the meeting will review achievements in areas such as development cooperation, climate change, and marine and fisheries cooperation, and discuss ways to promote future-oriented cooperation.
Busan City will invite the foreign ministers of the Pacific island countries who have come to Busan for this meeting to promote and negotiate support for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon plans to personally explain the significance and history of the World Expo, its value in the history of human civilization, and the capabilities of Busan, South Korea as a host city in his welcoming remarks.
Jo Yoo-jang, head of Busan City's 2030 Expo Promotion Headquarters, will also present a special presentation titled "The Meaning of the 2030 Busan World Expo in an Era of Great Transformation" to the attendees.
Additionally, before and after the event, Mayor Park Hyung-joon will hold bilateral meetings with high-level officials from the Marshall Islands and Nauru to request support for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid and propose the promotion of practical, customized cooperation projects with Busan City based on this opportunity.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon of Busan plans to introduce Busan as "a mature city economically, socially, and culturally, with a high level of public safety and a pleasant climate throughout all four seasons, as well as South Korea's second-largest city optimized for hosting the 2030 World Expo."
He will also request support by stating, "The value of the 2030 Busan World Expo, which seeks solutions to humanity's challenges such as sea level rise and climate crisis, will not remain a mere declaration but will also pursue substantial problem-solving through customized cooperation projects by country."

Prior to the main promotional event, Busan City plans to enhance the understanding of the 2030 Busan World Expo among the attending foreign ministers of the Pacific island countries by touring the candidate site around Bukhang with them around 4:30 PM.
