Busan Office of Education Holds High School Curriculum Briefing for Prospective 10th Grade Parents
Guidance on High School Credit System and Student-Centered Curriculum Choices
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold a high school curriculum briefing session for about 300 parents of prospective high school students three times in total on the 26th of this month, November 2, and November 9, utilizing Nam-gu Pukyong National University and online platforms.
This briefing session is organized to enhance parents' understanding of the high school credit system and the student-centered curriculum of general high schools.
The session will be conducted in two parts: two real-time video training sessions using YouTube and one in-person training session. The YouTube channel URL will be sent via text message to the video training participants.
The training on the 26th will be held as a video session with the theme, "How is the high school curriculum different from middle school?"
Teacher Kim Ji-hyun from Haegang High School will explain the "High School Credit System and High School Curriculum," focusing on the changes for the 2023 academic year. Teacher Lee Chang-hyun from Busanjin High School will provide guidance on the standards for organizing the school curriculum and subject arrangements.
The November 2 session will also be held online with the theme, "When and how does our child choose subjects?"
Teacher Do Seon-gyeong from Geumjeong High School will introduce various high school curricula with examples of student subject selection and interviews. Teacher Jeong Jae-cheon from Yemoon Girls' High School will guide the subject selection procedures in high school.
The November 9 session will be an in-person training held at 7 p.m. in the university theater of Pukyong National University in Nam-gu.
Teacher Jang Young-joo from Donga High School will discuss career guidance for high school admission, and Teacher Lee Joo-hyun from Dongnae Girls' High School will explain university entrance exams and the school curriculum.
