Gwangyang City Holds 'Gwangyang Gamdong Day' to Listen to Citizens' Voices
Collection of Three Citizen Opinions Including Suggestions for Improving Onnuri Gift Certificate Merchant Application
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do announced that on the 24th, under the chairmanship of Mayor Jeong In-hwa, it held the ‘Gwangyang Gamdong Day’ in October to listen to the diverse voices of its citizens.
‘Gwangyang Gamdong Day,’ established to expand opportunities for citizen participation in city administration, is a forum where citizens freely discuss ways to develop city administration, grievances, and difficulties, and jointly consider solutions.
At this Gamdong Day, five citizens from two teams visited and shared opinions and considered solutions regarding three citizen proposals: ▲long-term parking enforcement at the street parking lot in Jungma-dong ▲requests related to Onnuri gift certificate franchise applications ▲requests related to the Hwanggil urban park development project.
The city plans to actively address the complaints raised during ‘Gamdong Day’ by reviewing them through relevant departments, informing the proposers of the results, and promptly implementing feasible matters by securing budgets.
Mayor Jeong In-hwa of Gwangyang said, “Thank you for coming directly and candidly sharing stories that help the city,” adding, “For matters that are difficult to implement immediately, we will actively strive to provide sufficient explanations and prepare solutions from the perspective of the complainants.”
He continued, “Although we try to go out on-site to listen to citizens’ voices, there are areas we have not yet reached, so the purpose of ‘Gwangyang Gamdong Day’ is to create a place where any citizen can come and voice their opinions,” and added, “We will continue to listen more attentively to citizens’ voices, improve what is wrong, and promptly resolve grievances.”
Meanwhile, ‘Gwangyang Gamdong Day’ is held once a month in the citizen reception room on the 2nd floor of Gwangyang City Hall, providing a place where any citizen can freely meet with the mayor (vice mayor, directors) to discuss opinions on city administration, thereby resolving citizen grievances and exploring directions for city development.
