Seoul City Expands Child Meal Card Usage... Now Accepted at Lotte Mart Food Courts
Payment Available at 11 Lotte Mart Food Court Locations Starting from the 26th
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul City announced on the 25th that starting from the 26th, children at risk of food insecurity will be able to use the Child Meal Card (Kkum Namu Card) at Lotte Mart food courts as well, expanding the places where the card can be used.
Seoul City is the first in the nation to expand the use of the Child Meal Card to Lotte Mart food courts. The card can be used for payment at 11 Lotte Mart branches in the Seoul area. Among the 15 Lotte Mart branches in Seoul, 11 have food courts: Seoul Station, Cheongnyangni, Yeongdeungpo, Yangpyeong, Geumcheon, Gangbyeon, Seocho, Songpa, World Tower, Junggye, and Haengdang branches.
The 16,114 children in Seoul using the Kkum Namu Card will be able to choose from a variety of menus at Lotte Mart food courts according to their preferences, and can order via kiosks, which is expected to alleviate the stigma and inconvenience associated with face-to-face ordering.
Following the expansion of the Child Meal Card usage to Emart food courts in August this year, Seoul City has now extended it to Lotte Mart food courts as well, continuously striving to expand meal options for children at risk of food insecurity and to address nutritional imbalances. To diversify the affiliated stores for the Child Meal Card, Seoul City has been promoting affiliation with large mart food courts in cooperation with Shinhan Card since last year, and with active cooperation from Emart and Lotte Mart, the expansion was completed in the second half of this year.
Since June this year, Seoul City has also been working with GS Retail to provide a service allowing children using the Kkum Namu Card to purchase food items from GS convenience stores online at a 20% discount.
