[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Chinese President Xi Jinping carried out his first official schedule meeting with the military leadership after securing a third term.
According to local Chinese media on the 24th, President Xi, who also serves as Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party, attended a meeting of senior military leaders in the afternoon and delivered a speech emphasizing efforts to achieve the so-called "100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Army Struggle Goals."
This meeting with military officials took place immediately after Xi was re-elected as General Secretary of the Party and Chairman of the Central Military Commission at the 1st Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party held on the 23rd, following the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party. The Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission also accompanied him.
Wearing a Mao suit at the event, President Xi highlighted the recently concluded 20th Party Congress, stating, "It holds great significance in achieving the 100th anniversary struggle goals of the founding of the army within the set timeframe and in making our military a world-class force."
