At the emergency countermeasure committee meeting held that day, Floor Leader Joo said, "This teacher was already found to have political bias, having received a suspended disqualification sentence in the second trial for illegal election campaigning during the last general election," adding, "The political neutrality of education is explicitly stated in the Constitution."
He continued, "Forcing distorted political beliefs on students is nothing but a criminal act," and said, "If there are illegal acts, procedures for punishment must be followed. I hope the education committee will meticulously devise measures to prevent recurrence."
Furthermore, Floor Leader Joo pointed out, "It has been revealed that the operator of the 'Gyeonggi Dream School,' which receives 10 million won in support from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, encouraged participation in candlelight rallies by recognizing it as volunteer activity hours," adding, "We had already anticipated that a second wave of agitation, like the mad cow disease protests, could erupt early in the administration, but within just five months of its launch, there are misguided attempts to shake the new government everywhere."
