Ulsan Waterworks Headquarters, Tap Water ... All Drinking Water Quality Standards 'Compliant'
Water Quality Test Results for 60 Items in September
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Water quality tests of water purification plants and faucets in the Ulsan area all showed that the water is “suitable for drinking.”
The Ulsan City Waterworks Headquarters announced that the results of water quality tests on 60 items conducted in September met South Korea’s drinking water quality standards and were at a very safe level.
According to the test results, microorganisms such as general bacteria, total coliform group, and Escherichia coli, as well as harmful inorganic substances including ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, fluoride, seven heavy metals, boron, and bromate, were all “not detected or below the standard values.”
Sixteen items related to aesthetic impact substances such as hardness, odor, taste, color, turbidity, and zinc were also found to be “not detected, suitable, or below the standard values.”
Seventeen items of health-hazardous organic substances such as benzene, phenol, and carbon tetrachloride were “not detected,” and eleven items including disinfectants and disinfection by-products such as residual chlorine, total trihalomethanes, and chloroform were also measured as “not detected or below the standard values.”
Additionally, water quality tests conducted on a total of 108 household faucets selected based on the population served in each district and county, as well as six faucets connected to aging pipes, showed that residual chlorine levels were appropriate and all points met water quality standards.
A representative from the Waterworks Headquarters stated, “Based on regular water quality tests, the tap water supplied from purification plants to each household is much lower than the drinking water quality standard values, so it is safe and clean water that citizens can drink with confidence.”
Detailed water quality test results can be searched on the Ulsan Waterworks Headquarters website.
The Ulsan City Waterworks Headquarters is implementing the ‘Our Home Tap Water Safety Confirmation System’ to ensure safe tap water use at home.
