KOSPI Mixed ... Fluctuates Around 2210 During Trading Session
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The KOSPI is wavering between gains and losses, unable to find a clear direction.
As of 12:09 PM on the 21st, the KOSPI stood at 2218.68, up 0.03% (0.59 points) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 2210.59, down 0.34% (7.50 points) from the previous day, and has been fluctuating since. Foreign investors, who had been net buyers in the morning, have currently sold stocks worth 27.8 billion KRW. Individuals and institutions bought stocks worth 1.9 billion KRW and 17.6 billion KRW, respectively.
By sector, pharmaceuticals (1.33%), telecommunications (1.06%), and electric and precision instruments (0.95%) showed significant gains. Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics (0.9%) and SK Hynix (0.78%) maintained upward momentum. Samsung SDI rose 6.45%, buoyed by positive news of establishing the world's largest cathode material factory together with EcoPro BM (3.63%). Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor (-0.59%), Kia (-0.44%), NAVER (-1.48%), and POSCO Holdings (-1.98%) declined.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index was at 678.56, down 0.28% (1.88 points) from the previous trading day. In the current market, individuals alone purchased stocks worth 101.2 billion KRW, while foreign investors and institutions sold stocks worth 69.1 billion KRW and 29.6 billion KRW, respectively.
Among the top market capitalization stocks on the KOSDAQ, Celltrion Healthcare (1.11%), EcoPro (0.2%), Kakao Games (1.21%), Celltrion Pharm (0.63%), Chunbo (0.55%), and Rino Industrial (0.15%) showed gains, with secondary battery material-related stocks performing strongly.
