‘Post-Liberation, Changes in the Spirit of the Times and Historical Consciousness’… National Museum of Korean Contemporary History Special Exhibition on the 21st
[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The National Museum of Korean Contemporary History is holding a special exhibition titled "After Liberation, the Spirit of the Times and the Evolution of Historical Consciousness in the Historical Academia" on the first floor (lobby) of the museum until the 22nd of next month, reflecting on the sense of duty and research passion of historians immediately after liberation.
The special exhibition reveals for the first time in Korea the inaugural issues of nine major academic journals, including the "Journal of Historical Studies" (1952), and the proceedings (bulletin) of the 1st National History Conference (1958), a nationwide academic conference of historians.
In addition, 53 inaugural issues (bound volumes) and a comprehensive list of 255 inaugural issues from the historical academia are presented to help visitors understand the trends in historical research by era after liberation.

Nam Heesook, Director of the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History, said, "This year (2022) marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Historical Society and the publication of its inaugural issue, as well as the 65th National History Conference, making it a meaningful year. We are very pleased to hold an exhibition of major inaugural issues from the historical academia immediately after and following liberation at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History." She added, "Inspired by the passion and historical mission of early historians after liberation, we will strive to become a balanced National Museum of Modern and Contemporary History based on factual evidence."
