Daegu University Dokdo Territory Research Institute Holds Academic Conference Commemorating 122nd Anniversary of Korea's Indigenous Territory

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] The Dokdo Territory Research Institute at Daegu University will hold the "122nd Anniversary Academic Conference Commemorating the Proclamation of Imperial Decree No. 41 of the Korean Empire" on the 25th, Dokdo Day, at the Humanities Research Institute in the Faculty Research Building.
This academic conference was prepared to commemorate the 122nd anniversary of the Korean Empire's proclamation of "Imperial Decree No. 41" on October 25, 1900, and its publication in the Official Gazette (No. 1716) on October 27, which announced to the world that Dokdo is Korea's inherent territory.
"Imperial Decree No. 41" contains the content that the Korean Empire established "Uldo-gun" as a new county affiliated with Gangwon Province to protect its territories in the East Sea, appointed a county head to govern the islands, set the county office in Taeha-dong, and designated "the entire Ulleungdo Island and Jukdo and Seokdo (Dokdo)" as its jurisdiction.
At the conference, presentations will be given on topics such as ▲ "Emperor Gojong Established Uldo-gun through Imperial Decree No. 41 to Manage Dokdo" by Choi Jang-geun, Director of the Dokdo Territory Research Institute at Daegu University, and ▲ "The Status of Dokdo in Korean History" by Cho Soon, Director of the Jisan Research Institute. Additionally, a commemorative performance featuring the daegeum and accordion, including the Dokdo Arirang, will be held.

Choi Jang-geun, Director of the Dokdo Territory Research Institute at Daegu University, said, "I hope this academic conference will serve as an opportunity to reaffirm historically and under international law that Dokdo is our country's territory and become a platform for exchange between scholars researching Dokdo and civic groups."
