Seoul Water Reclamation Facilities Corporation and Yonsei University College of Engineering Sign Joint Research and Water Industry Talent Development Agreement
Joint Research for Resolving Issues and Innovation at Water Reuse Centers through Collaboration between Water Reuse Facility Management and Research Institutions
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Water Reclamation Facility Corporation announced on the 21st that it has signed a research agreement with Yonsei University College of Engineering for joint research, technology exchange, and human resource development.
The agreement was conducted in a non-face-to-face manner through written delivery between the Chairman of the Seoul Water Reclamation Facility Corporation and the Dean of Yonsei University College of Engineering.
The agreement includes △ solving current issues of the water reclamation center, discovering major issues related to water management and the water industry, and conducting joint research △ developing and operating joint programs for discovering and strengthening talent in the water industry △ mutual exchange of academic materials and technical information △ fostering talent in the water field through personnel exchange.
This agreement is expected to greatly contribute to the future development of the water industry by strengthening water industry capabilities through cooperation between specialized water reclamation facility management institutions and research institutions to solve current issues of the water reclamation center and nurture talent through continuous research and development.
Through the agreement, the Water Reclamation Corporation plans to actively collaborate on research and development with Yonsei University College of Engineering, including discovering next year’s research and development projects at the Water Reclamation Research Institute.
Park Sang-don, Chairman of the Seoul Water Reclamation Facility Corporation, stated, “Solving current issues of the water reclamation center, continuously discovering water environment research issues, and nurturing specialized talent are the foundation for the development of the water industry.” He added, “Through this business agreement, we will become a key institution for the development of Seoul’s water industry through continuous research on water industry development and solving current issues.”

Myeong Jae-min, Dean of Yonsei University College of Engineering, said, “Through cooperation with the Water Reclamation Facility Corporation, we expect to derive various educational programs and joint research using big data from the largest environmental and water industry infrastructure in Korea, the sewage treatment facilities located in Seoul, and their operations.”
