On the same day, Chairman Jeong posted on his Facebook, "The Democratic Party is physically blocking the prosecution's search and seizure of the office of Kim Yong, Deputy Director of the Democratic Research Institute, located at the Yeouido Democratic Party headquarters, starting from 3 p.m. on October 19," adding, "The Democratic Party unilaterally suspended the National Assembly inspection and gathered all members to the party headquarters."
He expressed regret, saying, "I regret that the Democratic Party physically obstructed the prosecution's law enforcement procedures carried out according to the search and seizure warrant issued by the court."
He continued, "Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party, has claimed responsibility as the planner of the Daejang-dong development project. A close aide of Leader Lee is suspected of receiving a large sum of money exceeding 800 million won from the Daejang-dong development project," and pointed out, "The Democratic Party's act of obstructing legitimate law enforcement cannot be justified under any pretext. It is another illegal act of intentionally interfering with official duties."
Chairman Jeong criticized the Democratic Party's refusal of the search and seizure and boycott of the National Assembly inspection as a "direct challenge to the rule of law and liberal democracy."
He said, "Yesterday, the Democratic Party unilaterally pushed through the Grain Management Act in the Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, and Fisheries Committee," and sarcastically asked, "Is the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea a playground for the Democratic Party to show off its power?"
He also said, "If you are confident, open the door of the Democratic Party and comply with the prosecution's search and seizure," and added, "I urge the Democratic Party, the major opposition party, to show a sincere change in attitude. Until the Democratic Party returns to the National Assembly and the Assembly is normalized, I will stand guard at the National Assembly site together with our party's floor leadership."
