Overcoming Language and Cultural Barriers... Gijang-gun Jeonggwan-eup Hosts 'Diverse Cultures, Prosperous Families, Friendly Neighbors'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Jeonggwan-eup Administrative Welfare Center in Gijang-gun, Busan, will hold a two-day local community harmony festival titled "Diverse Cultures, Happy Families, Friendly Neighbors" on the 22nd and 23rd at the Jeonggwan Central Park futsal field.
The event, held in conjunction with the Jeonggwan Ecological Stream Learning Culture Festival, will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is a local event for immigrants being held for the first time in three years since the advent of With Corona.
The Jeonggwan-eup Administrative Welfare Center expanded the existing "Multicultural Festival" and made efforts from the planning stage to have immigrants participate and communicate, creating a meeting place that transcends language and cultural barriers.
This event will be led by immigrants from six countries residing in Jeonggwan-eup, who will introduce their respective cultures, and about 20 members of the Jeonggwan-eup Community Security Council will jointly promote the event.
The detailed programs include ▲ tasting traditional teas from participating countries ▲ traditional musical instrument performances ▲ traditional costume experiences ▲ traditional game experiences ▲ wood art (coloring multicultural traditional costume keyrings), among others, arranged in a colorful manner.
In particular, the wood art, popular among children, will be offered free of charge on-site for 500 people per day, and it is expected to be a valuable educational opportunity to experience diverse cultures and understand foreigners.
Nu Jjan, a member of the Jeonggwan-eup Community Security Council who helped prepare the event, said, "I am happy to be able to introduce my homeland to neighbors," and added, "I hope our children grow up with pride through this event."
