Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 19th that a subtropical botanical garden has opened.
The subtropical botanical garden was established in the Baeksan-ro 160-1 area of Uiryeong-eup to create future agricultural income sources through the development of subtropical crop cultivation technology and to attract tourists by linking with nearby insect ecology learning centers and agricultural culture theme parks.
The botanical garden was constructed over four years with a total project cost of 4.6 billion KRW, creating a 1,038㎡ glass greenhouse complex. Inside the greenhouse, 2,802 subtropical plants of 280 species, including papaya, apple mango, and coffee trees, are growing.
Upon entering the botanical garden, visitors are welcomed by a Mars sculpture, wall greening, and a Little Prince photo zone. Visitors can freely tour along the experience route while viewing various subtropical crops.
Uiryeong-gun sees the subtropical botanical garden as an ideal place to target field trips for kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as family tourists. In particular, they are developing educational programs linked with the Gyeongnam Future Education Theme Park, which will be completed next year.
