Gochang-gun Adds 300 Units of 'Emergency Safety and Security Service'

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk, has taken the lead in expanding the distribution of the ‘Emergency Safety and Security Service’ to establish a social safety net for elderly people living alone.

According to the county on the 19th, an additional 300 units of the Emergency Safety and Security Service will be distributed this year, bringing the total installed units to 648 so far.

The Emergency Safety and Security Service for elderly people living alone is a next-generation device that can monitor fires and activity levels, installed in the homes of elderly people living alone to enable quick response through 119 emergency calls in case of emergencies.

The service targets elderly people aged 65 or older who live alone and are basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty class or basic pension recipients, or those requiring constant safety checks among the elderly customized care service recipients.

This year alone, 37 emergency reports have been received, actively protecting the elderly and playing a significant role.

A county official said, “We will conduct a thorough inspection of the operation status of both existing and newly installed devices during the winter season, provide instructions on how to operate them to the elderly, and secure the safety of the recipients to build a seamless social safety net.”
