60s Man Who Killed Former Lover in 80s to Be Transferred on the 20th... Also Suspected of Stealing Valuables
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] The police are investigating a man in his 60s, who is suspected of murdering his former partner in her 80s and fleeing, after also detecting circumstances of him stealing valuables.
On the 18th, the Dongdaemun Police Station in Seoul announced that they conducted a search of the residence of Mr. A, a man in his 60s suspected of murder, the day before.
Through the search, forensic analysis of his mobile phone, and call history examination, the police have uncovered evidence suggesting that Mr. A stole valuables and are continuing their investigation. Additionally, it was confirmed that the weapon used in the crime was purchased at a store in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul.
The police plan to transfer Mr. A to the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office on the 20th after further suspect interrogation and profiler interviews.
Mr. A is suspected of killing Ms. B, a woman in her 80s who was his former partner, in a semi-basement house in Jangan-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, on the 8th, and fleeing the scene. The day after the crime, when a movement sensor provided by the district office to a solitary elderly person showed no response, a district office worker visited Ms. B’s residence. Upon discovering the body, the worker reported it to the police. It is known that after the crime, Mr. A locked the door of Ms. B’s residence and destroyed her mobile phone to conceal the crime.

The police arrested Mr. A at his home on the 10th and applied for an arrest warrant. The Seoul Northern District Court issued the arrest warrant for Mr. A on the 13th.
