Bank of Korea Holds Inaugural Meeting of Currency Circulation System Related Agencies Council
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The Bank of Korea announced on the 18th that the "Currency Circulation System Related Agencies Council" (Chairman: Kim Geun-young, Director of the Issuance Department at the Bank of Korea) held its inaugural meeting at the Bank of Korea headquarters on the 14th.
The Currency Circulation System Related Agencies Council was newly established in August to comprehensively manage and improve the domestic currency circulation system. It consists of a total of 22 institutions playing roles as suppliers, intermediaries, and users.
At this meeting, the council reviewed recent currency supply and demand trends, the impact of COVID-19 on the domestic currency circulation system, and discussed measures to enhance the efficiency of the currency circulation system.

The council stated, "We plan to do our best to ensure the smooth functioning of the currency circulation system through active information sharing and discussions based on close cooperation among participating institutions."
