Police Send Anseong Mayor Kim Bora to Prosecutors on Election Law Violation Charges
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Myunghwan] The police have sent Anseong Mayor Kim Bora, who was accused of violating election laws during the June 1 local elections, to the prosecution.
The Anseong Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 17th that they recently referred Mayor Kim to the prosecution on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act.
Mayor Kim, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, is accused of purchasing rice cakes worth about 4.8 million won with business promotion expenses in March, ahead of the local elections, and distributing them to all city hall officials. Additionally, she is accused of sending New Year's greeting messages containing her name and title to an unspecified number of people in December of last year.
The police received a complaint regarding these allegations, summoned related individuals for investigation, and conducted related inquiries including analyzing city hall CCTV footage submitted voluntarily.

A police official stated, "We judged that the charges were sufficiently substantiated and referred the case to the prosecution," adding, "We cannot disclose specific details."
