Oh Se-hoon: "We must ensure that marriage, childbirth, and parenting do not force people to give up their dreams" [2022 Women Forum]
Congratulatory Address by Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] "It is more important than anything else to create systems and environments where women do not have to give up their dreams due to marriage, childbirth, and parenting, and can fully demonstrate their talents."
On the 19th, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon delivered a congratulatory speech at the 11th Women Leaders Forum held at the Crystal Ballroom of Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, stating, "Our society must produce more women leaders and support their challenges and activities. I hope that through this forum, leaders who are driving innovation in their respective fields will generously share their experiences and wisdom."
Asia Economy organized a session under the theme "Breaking Boundaries, Creating Value!" to share the challenges of 'Power K-Women' active worldwide. Individuals who have overcome and broken down various boundaries such as race, borders, and disabilities were selected.
Seoul City also plans to expand and strengthen policies it has promoted so far, such as 'A City Where Women Are Happy' and the 'Travel Project.' Since August, Mayor Oh has been promoting the 'Mom and Dad Happiness Project,' consisting of 28 projects in four major areas: safe care, comfortable outings, health healing, and work-life balance.
Mayor Oh emphasized, "Seoul has been implementing various policies for over 10 years, and now we are upgrading policies whose effectiveness has been verified. We aim to reduce the childcare burden on moms and dads and create a social atmosphere where parenting activities are respected, thereby making Seoul a city good for raising children."
He added, "We will also do our best to build a foundation where women can freely demonstrate their talents and be active not only domestically but also worldwide."

Hello, I am Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul.
Congratulations on the hosting of the <11th Women Leaders Forum>.
Thank you deeply to Asia Economy CEO Woo Byung-hyun and all related parties
for organizing this meaningful occasion to share experiences and wisdom of women leaders.
Especially this year, under the theme ‘Breaking Boundaries, Creating Value!,’
I have heard that a precious opportunity has been prepared to hear the challenges of ‘Power K-Women’ active not only in Asia but worldwide.
I hope that through this forum, leaders who are leading innovation in their respective fields
will generously share their experiences and wisdom.
Going forward, for our society to produce more women leaders
and support their challenges and activities,
it is more important than anything else to create systems and environments
where women do not have to give up their dreams due to marriage, childbirth, and parenting
and can fully demonstrate their talents.
Seoul City has, for over 10 years,
through ‘A City Where Women Are Happy’ and the ‘Travel Project,’
worked to resolve the anxieties and inconveniences women face,
while striving to discover various women’s jobs,
and now is upgrading policies whose effectiveness has been verified to a higher level.
Also, since August, we have been promoting the ‘Mom and Dad Happiness Project.’
Through 28 projects in four major areas: safe care, comfortable outings, health healing, and work-life balance,
we aim to reduce the childcare burden on moms and dads
and create a social atmosphere where parenting activities are respected,
making Seoul a city good for raising children.
Furthermore, we will do our best to build a foundation where women can freely demonstrate their talents
and be active not only domestically but also worldwide.
Once again, congratulations on the hosting of the <11th Women Leaders Forum>,
and I wish success to all attendees.
Thank you.
