‘Gyeongju Future Development Committee’ New Start... Chairman Nam Hong & Vice Chairman Lee Kyung-ho
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Koo Dae-sun] The ‘5th Gyeongju City Future Development Advisory Committee,’ composed of top experts from various fields, has been launched to establish future development strategies for Gyeongju City.
On the 16th, Gyeongju City stated, “At Alcheon Hall in City Hall on the 14th, the Future Development Advisory Committee held a meeting where appointment letters were awarded to 28 new members out of a total of 42 members, and discussions were held regarding Gyeongju City’s future project strategies.”
The Future Development Advisory Committee was launched in September 2014 and currently consists of 42 members across six divisions.
The meeting began with the awarding of appointment letters to new executives, followed by the election of the 5th term executives, an explanation of Gyeongju City’s current project strategies, and a free discussion on the theme of Gyeongju’s municipal development.
At the advisory committee meeting, Nam Hong, advisor of the Gyeongju Regional Development Council, was elected as chairman, and Lee Kyung-ho, professor at Gyeongju University, was elected as vice chairman. The division heads for the six divisions were elected as follows: Kim Dong-rak, director of the Gyeongbuk Education, Culture, and Health Promotion Institute for the Future Strategy Division; Park Wan-gyu, former head of the Gyeongju branch of the Korean Writers’ Association for the Culture and Tourism Division; Lee Jong-in, former vice president of the Association of Research Institute Directors for the Job and Economy Division; Lee Yi-hwan, chairman of the Gyeongju Agricultural and Fishery Chamber for the Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock, and Marine Division; Kim Kyung-dae, professor at Handong University for the Urban Development Division; and Park Kyung-il, professor at Dongguk University for the Citizen Life Division.
The committee members agreed to actively fulfill their advisory roles to discover customized ideas for Gyeongju City that align with future trends and to translate these into new policies.
Gyeongju City plans to actively utilize the Future Development Advisory Committee in the future to reflect expert advice in project implementation, maximizing policy effectiveness in areas such as establishing future development strategies and developing key short- and long-term policies.
