[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Overseas Area Research Center of the Institute of International Area Studies at Gyeongsang National University held a special lecture titled "The Anthropologist Fascinated by Vietnam" on the 12th at the College of Humanities seminar room, inviting Professor Emeritus Jeon Kyung-soo of Seoul National University.
In the lecture, Professor Emeritus Jeon advised, "I was the first in our country to create and use the term 'multicultural,' but this term should definitely no longer be used in our society. Because the distinction between self and other is the beginning of discrimination, we should stop making such distinctions."
He then explained his activities and experiences in Vietnam with various examples, noting that Vietnam, along with Korea and Ryukyu, shares Confucian cultural identity as part of the new Confucian cultural sphere.
