‘Villa King’ Suspected of Jeonse Fraud Found Dead During Police Investigation

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] A man in his 40s, who was under police investigation for embezzling the security deposits of hundreds of tenants, was found dead.
On the 13th, the Financial Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that Mr. A, who was accused of fraud, was found dead at around 10 a.m. the previous day in a hotel in Jongno-gu.
Mr. A, who had been staying long-term at the hotel, was discovered by hotel staff. The police believe that Mr. A died due to an underlying illness.
Mr. A, known as the so-called "Villa King," was accused of purchasing villas with no capital and embezzling the tenants' jeonse security deposits. It is reported that there are about 300 victims.
