President Yoon, Two Days Ago on Tactical Nuclear Redeployment Possibility: "Listening Carefully to Various Opinions"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Regarding the report on June 13 that President Yoon Suk-yeol requested nuclear sharing from the United States, he stated, "Various opinions related to extended deterrence are emerging both domestically and within the U.S. political circles, and we are carefully listening and thoroughly examining various possibilities."
President Yoon made this remark on his way to the Yongsan Presidential Office building in the morning when reporters asked, "There is a report that you requested practical nuclear sharing from the United States."
However, President Yoon added, "It is difficult for the president to publicly confirm or explicitly respond to such security matters."
Regarding some claims that U.S. tactical nuclear weapons should be redeployed domestically, President Yoon said, "I mentioned this yesterday or the day before. You can refer to that."
