Festival Toward the Future... Ulsan Office of Education Hosts the '2022 Science Convergence Festival'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the ‘2022 Ulsan Science Convergence Festival’ over two days from the 15th to the 16th at the Ulsan Science Museum area.
The event, themed ‘Science, Mathematics, and Information Convergence Education Towards the Future!’, has prepared various cases of science convergence education. This large-scale outdoor experience event, which had not been held due to the COVID-19 situation, is especially meaningful as it is taking place again after a long time.
The opening ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on the 15th at the outdoor stage and the entrance of the event venue, featuring congratulatory remarks from the Superintendent of Education and a metaverse demonstration.
In the outdoor space, 65 experience booths operated directly by elementary, middle, and high school students in the fields of science, STEAM, mathematics, makers, SW·AI will welcome visitors with activities such as ‘Making My Own Emblem’.
Explanations of the principles behind each booth’s experience program can be viewed in detail by accessing the QR codes printed on banners or by visiting the ‘Experience Booth Introduction’ section within the metaverse.
At the outdoor stage, science performances composed in the form of shows explaining various scientific principles in daily life, such as ‘Aladdin’s Lamp,’ will be held, and visitors can also meet the Titan robot, which appears riding a buggy car and interacts humorously with participants.
In the Big Bang Hall of the Science Museum, special lectures await students and citizens to explore the direction of mathematics learning and future education trends centered on artificial intelligence and the metaverse.
At the Future Edutech Experience Space set up in the Cosmos Gallery of the Science Museum, students, teachers, and citizens are given the opportunity to directly handle smart devices and content, allowing them to experience the future classroom spaces and changes in lessons filled with edutech.
Additionally, a mini hackathon competition will be held where teams of 4th to 6th grade elementary students learn about the Internet of Things, conduct thematic inquiries and collaborative research, and compete. The team presentations and awards ceremony can also be attended by the general public interested in the SW field.
Other events include drone experience activities and metaverse experience events held on the outdoor stage.
