Nuon Media Secures 4 Billion KRW Series A Investment
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Nuon Media, a webtoon and web novel CP (Content Provider) company, announced on the 12th that it has recently completed its Series A investment round. Based on this, the company plans to produce a variety of genre content and actively explore overseas markets to become a top-tier CP company in Korea.
According to industry sources, four investment firms participated in this Series A round: SBI Investment, KB Securities, K-Clavis Investment, and Shinhan Capital, through which Nuon Media secured a total capital of 4 billion KRW.
Nuon Media is currently actively releasing novel comics centered on romance fantasy on major domestic and overseas platforms, and plans to expand its scope to original webtoons in the future. The company has released about 30 webtoons so far and plans to launch approximately 20 more webtoons by the first half of 2023 to leap into a mid-sized CP company.
In particular, Nuon Media is aggressively expanding its web novel segment, having acquired the web novel platform ‘Piuri’ last July. Through this, the company is not only producing novel comics using its own IP but also building differentiated capabilities in IP OSMU (One Source Multi-Use) by creating a value chain that connects ‘novel-webtoon-video’ through the adaptation of novels and webtoons into videos.
Yoo Hyungseok, CEO of Nuon Media, said, “Nuon Media has successfully established an IP value chain based on web novels and webtoons and is considered a CP company that best realizes OSMU. Based on the Series A investment, we will more actively promote IP OSMU and aggressively explore overseas markets.”
