Seongnam City Conducts Safety Inspections for Small Aged Houses Over 30 Years
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will conduct safety inspections on small-scale aging buildings that are over 30 years old.
The inspection targets are houses built before 1992 that are two stories or less and have a total floor area of 500㎡ or less, which are not included in the regular inspection targets under various laws.
Seongnam City will prioritize inspections on buildings with severe aging that pose a risk of collapse.
To this end, the city will accept applications from owners or managers of the relevant buildings until November 30.
If included in the safety inspection target, an inspection team consisting of city officials, architects, and structural engineers will visit the site to assess the condition of each building and assign one of five grades: excellent, good, average, poor, or bad.
Houses and other buildings that receive a "poor" or "bad" rating and require safety management will be referred to a building management inspection agency for a detailed inspection, and guidance on repair, reinforcement, and maintenance measures will be provided. If necessary, smart safety equipment (measuring devices) will be installed for continuous management.
To receive a safety inspection, applications can be submitted through the Seongnam City website (Citizen Participation → Online Application → Small-scale Aging Building Safety Inspection) within the deadline. Applications can also be submitted in person at the Building Safety Management Division office on the 7th floor of Seongnam City Hall.
