20s Man Sentenced to Probation for Rape in Ex-Girlfriend's Car
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] A man in his 20s who raped his ex-girlfriend after giving her a ride in his car was sentenced to a suspended prison term.
According to the legal community on the 11th, the Gwangju District Court's 11th Criminal Division (Presiding Judge Park Hyun-soo) sentenced A (25), who was indicted on charges including rape, to three years in prison with a four-year suspension.
He was also ordered to undergo probation for four years, complete 200 hours of community service, and attend 40 hours of sexual violence treatment lectures.
A was tried on charges of raping his ex-girlfriend B twice after giving her a ride in his car in February of last year.
Between November 1 and 27 last year, he is also accused of repeatedly calling B for about 10 minutes a day with caller ID blocked, threatening her by saying "Did you report to the police? I'll kill you," and choking her with both hands.
A's side initially denied some charges but changed their stance to admit all charges after reaching an agreement with the victim.
The court dismissed the stalking and assault charges against A.
