Chinese media are paying considerable attention to the damage compared to the past, reporting prominently, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is avoiding direct involvement or commentary, emphasizing only a principled stance.
The Chinese Embassy in Ukraine issued a warning on the afternoon of the 10th through its official WeChat account, stating, "Air raids are frequent across Ukraine and the safety situation is serious," and urged, "Do not come to Ukraine from China, and do not return from third countries either." It added, "Those staying in Ukraine must take thorough precautions against emergencies and risks."
Local media are reporting the situation in Ukraine in real time. CCTV reported, "As of 9 PM on the 10th, 14 people have died and 97 have been injured due to air raids in Ukraine." Citing official Ukrainian announcements, it conveyed, "On this day, Russian air raids on Ukraine affected major infrastructure in eight regions of Ukraine and the city of Kyiv." It further added, "Russian President Putin stated at the Russian Federation Security Council on the 10th that the Russian Ministry of Defense precisely struck military targets in Ukraine using ground, air, and sea missiles."
Western media are defining Russia's recent attacks as retaliation for the Crimean Bridge explosion. In particular, Russia launched attacks during Monday's rush hour on other major cities including Lviv in western Ukraine, Dnipro in central Ukraine, and Kharkiv, the second-largest city in the northeast, reportedly deploying attack drones as well. Ukraine announced that 75 missiles flew into Ukrainian territory during the morning commute, of which 41 were intercepted, and 11 critical infrastructure sites in eight regions were damaged.
At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' regular briefing that day, regarding the damage in Ukraine, a principled comment was made, saying, "We hope the situation will ease as soon as possible." Spokesperson Mao Ning explained, "It is important for all parties to adhere to dialogue and negotiation and jointly promote the easing of the situation. China maintains communication with all parties and is willing to play a constructive role in facilitating the easing of the situation."
