Homeplus Unveils New Tesoro Wine from Argentina
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Homeplus announced on the 11th that it will be the first major domestic supermarket to introduce three new wine products from Argentina’s Trapiche Winery, known as producing wine in the "cleanest environment in the world," as well as wines collaborated with golf influencers.
Trapiche Winery, a leading Argentine winery holding a 45% market share in the Argentine wine market, produces wine located in the Andes Mountains. It has outstanding winemaking skills, having won the ‘Argentina Winery of the Year’ trophy four times at the UK wine competition IWSC, and was selected as a ‘Hot Brand’ by Impact Magazine from 2007 to 2013, recognized for its excellent value in both quality and popularity.
Exclusively launched by Homeplus, Tesoro means ‘treasure’ in Spanish and reflects Trapiche’s philosophy of constant challenge and pioneering spirit. The lineup includes ▲Tesoro Malbec ▲Tesoro Cabernet Sauvignon ▲Tesoro Chardonnay.
First, Tesoro Malbec features distinctive red fruit aromas like plum, with complex aromas of vanilla and black pepper, and soft tannins in a medium-bodied wine. It pairs well with red meats, especially lamb.
Tesoro Cabernet Sauvignon has intense cherry and currant aromas, followed by slight spiciness and subtle tobacco notes. It offers a pleasant acidity with smooth tannins, showing excellent balance, and pairs well with various meat dishes such as samgyeopsal (pork belly) and galbijjim (braised short ribs).
Tesoro Chardonnay boasts distinctive flavors of apple, mango, and lemon, harmonized with subtle hints of caramel. This medium-bodied Chardonnay, with a creamy and smooth mouthfeel achieved through lactic fermentation, pairs well with seafood, Thai food, and spicy dishes.
International wine critic James Suckling rated Tesoro Malbec 92 points, Tesoro Cabernet Sauvignon 91 points, and Tesoro Chardonnay 93 points, recognizing their taste and quality.
Also introduced is the ‘Neverdie Wine,’ a collaboration with golf influencer ‘Park Sajang (Park Nojun),’ combining both taste and fun. Produced in Italy using Primitivo and Negroamaro grape varieties, this wine features complex aromas of black berry, cherry, fig jam, and pepper.
It is a full-bodied wine with a strong velvet-like smooth texture, balanced tannins, and a fruity finish, pairing well with pork dishes.
