Tesla's First Electric Truck 'Semi' Launching in December... "Impact of Inflation Reduction Act"
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] American electric vehicle company Tesla will launch its first large electric truck, the 'Semi,' this December.
Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, announced on Twitter on the 7th (local time) that the Semi will be delivered to PepsiCo on December 1st. PepsiCo also confirmed plans to deploy the truck at its snack and beverage plant in California.
Major foreign media reported that Tesla, which had stated earlier this year that it had no plans to launch new vehicles such as the Semi due to global parts supply shortages, changed its stance to launch within the year due to the influence of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which provides subsidies only for American-made electric vehicles. The reported expected selling price of the Semi is $180,000, and truck buyers can expect a subsidy benefit of up to $40,000.
