[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-chul] To prevent safety accidents on multi-use vessels during the autumn outing season, Gyeonggi Province will conduct joint safety inspections with city and county authorities.
According to the province on the 5th, in response to the increase in passengers using ferries and water buses in autumn, inspections will be conducted from today until the 31st targeting 40 vessels at four ferry and water bus operators in the Paju, Gapyeong, and Yeoncheon areas.
In particular, for the large-scale Gapyeong County, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority, National Safety Field Observation Team, and private experts will participate together to carry out a central joint inspection.
The key inspection items include ▲hull and engine safety ▲availability of life-saving equipment ▲completion of safety training by operators ▲recording and management of entry and exit logs ▲compliance with COVID-19 related quarantine rules, among others.
Any violations found will be tracked and managed under the responsibility of the province, city, and county until corrected.
