Ministry of Unification: "Inter-Korean Joint Liaison Office Phone Line Operating Normally"
Temporary Communication Blackout Immediately After North Korea's Missile Launch Yesterday
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The inter-Korean joint liaison office channel, which was unreachable in the morning immediately after North Korea's launch of a medium-range ballistic missile, resumed normal operation on the 5th.
The Ministry of Unification stated in a press release sent to the media on the same day, "This morning (the 5th) at 9 a.m., the inter-Korean joint liaison office work commencement call was conducted normally."
On the 4th, when North Korea launched the intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM), the inter-Korean joint liaison office channel was temporarily disconnected in the morning but normal communication was restored in the afternoon.
Some speculated that the North deliberately refused the call, but considering the continued normal operation, it is highly likely that a technical issue occurred and was subsequently resolved.
