Oil Slick Pollution in the Coastal Waters of Yeosu
Marine pollution suspected to be bunker oil occurred in the waters off Yeosu, Jeollanam-do.
According to Yeosu Coast Guard on the 3rd, a report was received at around 8:59 a.m. that a black iridescent oil slick was visible in the sea between Janggun-do Island and Yeosu Marine Shipyard in Yeosu City.
The Coast Guard confirmed that a wide black iridescent oil film was spread at the scene. They are conducting containment operations using 15 vessels, including containment boats and patrol ships.

The Coast Guard suspects that bunker oil, a type of ship fuel, has leaked. An investigation to trace the source of the pollution is also underway.
