According to the Michuhol Police Station in Incheon on the 2nd, around 9 a.m. on the 20th of last month, a resident of an apartment in Michuhol-gu, Mr. A, found graffiti on his front door after taking his children to daycare and leaving the house. Someone had spray-painted the words "Gaebogi" in red spray paint.
Feeling fearful due to the incomprehensible graffiti, Mr. A reported it to the police. According to a JTBC report, he said, "If it had been a curse, I would have thought 'Was there some ill will?' but I don't even understand the phrase 'Gaebogi' itself," and added, "Even though I installed safety devices, I keep getting startled by small noises."
The police confirmed through the apartment's closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage a man, presumed to be the suspect, wearing a hat pulled down, taking the elevator from the basement level 1 to the floor where the graffiti was found.
It is presumed that this man fled the apartment via the emergency stairs after committing the act. Traces of red spray paint were found on the railings and walls of the emergency stairs and various parts of the apartment.
Meanwhile, concerned about the possibility of further criminal damage, Mr. A's family, who requested personal protection from the police but did not receive a definite response, reportedly moved to another apartment recently.
