First Meeting of the Council Held, Seoul City and Organizations Share Collaborative Projects... Exchange Opinions on 'Walking with the Vulnerable'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul Metropolitan Government is forming and operating the ‘Seoul Metropolitan Health and Medical Council’ with six medical organizations to further strengthen medical projects for citizens' health promotion.
On the 4th, Seoul held the inauguration ceremony and the first meeting to share opinions on the health and medical field of ‘Walking Together with the Vulnerable.’ The ‘Seoul Metropolitan Health and Medical Council’ includes the Seoul Medical Association, Seoul Hospital Association, Seoul Dental Association, Seoul Korean Medicine Association, Seoul Pharmaceutical Association, and Seoul Nursing Association. It is organized and operated to establish a cooperative system between Seoul and these institutions to unite efforts in infectious disease response and public medical projects.
The Health and Medical Council consists of a total of eight members, including one representative recommended by each organization and Seoul city officials. Through regular meetings, the six organizations will establish an organic cooperative system, discuss current issues as needed, and gather opinions before policy implementation, serving as a communication platform for the development of Seoul’s health and medical services.
The ‘Seoul Metropolitan Health and Medical Council Inauguration Ceremony’ will be held on the 4th at the City Hall conference room. Mayor Oh Se-hoon, heads of medical organizations, council members, and Seoul city officials will attend to share and strengthen cooperation on Seoul-city and medical organization collaborative projects.
Following the inauguration ceremony, the first meeting will exchange opinions on the council’s operational plans and upcoming projects such as ‘Walking Together with the Vulnerable’ aimed at promoting citizens’ health.

Park Yu-mi, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Citizen Health Bureau, said, “I hope the Seoul Metropolitan Health and Medical Council will be utilized as a communication platform with medical sites and become a driving force to accelerate the development of Seoul’s health and medical services.” She added, “Seoul will continue to strengthen public-private cooperation and implement ‘Walking Together with the Vulnerable’ more thoroughly in the health and medical field to ensure that all citizens can be healthy.”
