20s Male Arrested and Sent to Prosecution for Drug Use and Threatening Family with a Bladed Weapon
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] A man in his 20s who threatened his family with a weapon while under the influence of drugs has been handed over to the prosecution.
On the 30th, the Seongbuk Police Station in Seoul announced that it had sent Mr. A, who is suspected of special intimidation, obstruction of official duties, and violation of the Narcotics Control Act, into custody the day before.
Mr. A is accused of threatening to kill his father and grandmother with a weapon at his home in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, at around 8:18 p.m. on the 25th. He also resisted by brandishing the weapon at the responding police officers but was subdued after being hit with a taser. At the time, local police and firefighters entered Mr. A’s home by opening the front door and subdued him.
The police also found two syringes suspected to have been used for drug injection at Mr. A’s home. Mr. A tested positive for drugs in a simple reagent test.
On the 27th, the Seoul Northern District Court issued an arrest warrant for Mr. A, citing "risk of flight."

A police official said, "Mr. A admitted to the charges during the investigation," adding, "We have requested hair and urine analysis from the National Forensic Service and plan to send the results to the prosecution."
