Bithumb Responds to Real Owner Controversy: "No Chairman Title Since Establishment... Mr. Kang Not Involved in Management"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Myunghwan] Cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb has clarified that "since its establishment in January 2014, it has never had a chairman," denying that Kang Mo, recently involved in controversy as the actual owner, has ever been involved in management.
On the 30th, Bithumb issued a statement saying, "Kang Mo, mentioned in media reports, has never been employed as an executive or staff member of the company nor involved in its management."
Previously, a media outlet reported that actress Park Minyoung is dating Kang Mo, a reclusive tycoon referred to as the chairman of Bithumb. The outlet claimed that Kang Mo is the actual owner of Vidente, the largest shareholder of Bithumb Holdings. Bithumb Holdings is the parent company of Bithumb Korea, which operates Bithumb.

Bithumb further emphasized, "We once again stress that all businesses, including the operation of the exchange and platform, are managed under the responsibility of the management of Bithumb Korea Co., Ltd." and added, "We will continue to strive to provide safer and more convenient services to our members."
