Gyeongbuk Province Holds 47th Anniversary Event of Civil Defense Corps Establishment... On the 30th at the Provincial Government Hwabaek Hall
Redefining the Role of Civil Defense Forces in Response to Comprehensive Security Environment Changes
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] On the 30th, Gyeongbuk Province held the 47th anniversary ceremony of the Civil Defense Corps establishment at the Hwabaek Hall of the provincial government office, attended by over 250 civil defense members including the head of the Disaster Safety Office and deputy heads of cities and counties.
This event was organized to establish regional security and various disaster preparedness measures amid recent North Korea's ballistic missile launches into the East Sea as a show of force.
The Civil Defense Corps was enacted and promulgated in July 1975 to strengthen national defense amid growing concerns over the communist takeover of the Korean Peninsula following the fall of South Vietnam, and the Civil Defense Corps was established nationwide on September 22 of the same year, continuing to this day.
Today's event proceeded in the order of awarding civil defense meritorious persons, congratulatory performances, security resolution pledges, and a handprinting performance for the development of the Civil Defense Corps.
